The Bridgeway K-Kids Club at Bridgeway Elementary School more than doubled its goal for raising funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
The after-school service club affiliated with the Bridgeton Kiwanis Club set a goal to raise between $600 and $1,000 while spearheading its school-wide "Pennies for Patients" fund-raising project. Every student at Bridgeway received a small cardboard box to take home to collect spare change during the month of January. After all the donations were collected and the final total was tabulated, however, the students, staff and families at Bridgeway had collected more than $2,400.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is a voluntary health organization dedicated to finding cures and ensuring access to treatments for blood cancer patients.
