LAST WEEK THE PIRATE CODE LEADERSHIP TEAM KICKED OFF THEIR INCENTIVE PROGRAM FOR THE 2017-2018 SCHOOL YEAR. Each Friday one staff and one student winner are selected through a drawing of Pirate Code tickets that are submitted for the week. Winners receive a variety of incentives including $10 gift cards to local stores, restaurants, Rock Star reserved parking and other cool prizes. Each week one of our students also receives a $5 STUCO gift card through the Pirate Code “Attendance Games” initiative; students that have 90% attendance or higher are automatically entered into this weekly drawing. Other cool Pirate Code incentives include the “No Tardy Party” at the end of each semester for students that have zero tardies and our catered Staff/Student Luncheon that takes place each spring. Winners are announced each Friday morning. Listen up; you could be our next winner!! Prizes are picked up in Dr. Dobrinic's office. Staff, please remember to hand out those Pirate Code tickets!!!!

SOFT SKILL OF THE WEEK IS COMMUNICATION. Good communication skills consists of speaking clearly and concisely, projecting positive body language and facial expressions, listening to what others are saying, composing appropriate written communication, and relaying information visually. If an employee and a supervisor learn to communicate well (in whatever method that works), there is a greater likelihood of job retention and promotion for the employee.
THE WORD OF THE WEEK IS ARBITRARY. ARBITRARY is an adjective and it means:
1. based on personal opinion or random choice, rather than on reason, measurement or procedure
2. a heavy-handed use of authority
3. of any value, or unspecific
