ANIME CLUB will meet tomorrow, November 1 from 2:15 to 4pm in B111.

ALL FRESHMEN AND SOPHOMORES WILL BE ATTENDING A CAREER FAIR this Thursday, November 2 during Homeroom.  Please log onto Family Connections to see the list of presenters.

THIS WEEK'S WORD OF THE WEEK IS EMANATE (em·a·nate).  EMANATE comes from the Latin word “emanates” meaning “to flow from”.  If you are really feeling an emotion, you emanate it.  Example:  The students emanated happiness when they realized their teams were headed to the State Championships.

CONGRATS TO THE VARSITY CHEERLEADERS on their successful weekend at State!  The cheerleaders hit a deduction free routine and received third place.  Huge shout out to Kennedy Stroker, Kori Gibbons, and Sallie Crosby who made All State for Cheerleading.  The coaches are very proud of you.

IT IS TIME TO DISABLE THE LABEL.  The R-word is the word 'retard(ed)'.  Why does it hurt?  The R-word hurts because it is exclusive.  It's offensive.  It's derogatory.  Our campaign asks people to pledge to stop saying the R-word as a starting point toward creating more accepting attitudes and communities for all people.  Language affects attitudes and attitudes affect actions.  Pledge today to use respectful, people-first language.  Outside D212, sign up to participate in a week-long event to promote teaching tolerance and understanding what it's like to have a disability.  Help us spread awareness by walking in someone else's shoes with a disability.  On November 7, Pattonville will hold an assembly that will promote our pledge to "Disable the Label".

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN BEING INVOLVED IN THE 2018 MUSICAL, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST?  Pick up an Information Packet on the Call Board outside room A213.  Auditions are November 6, 7, & 8.  Stage Manager Apps are due November 6 and Crew Apps are due November 7.

STUDENTS WHO ATTEND SCHOOL AT A RATE OF 90% OR HIGHER achieve a higher grade point average by a full letter grade than students who miss school regularly.   Track your attendance rate on Power School.
