IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE BAND AND CHOIR, THE PHS ORCHESTRA STUDENTS performed 36 events at the MSHSAA District Solo/Ensemble Festival!  These students have worked incredibly hard (in some cases since August) to perform their pieces.
CONGRATULATIONS to the following students on receiving an Exemplary-1 rating and advancing to the STATE Level (to be held on Saturday, April 28):
Solos:  Jade Boyd, violin (9), Adam Mitchell, violin (12), Abby Surlet, bass (11), and Natalie Young, Violin (10)
String Duets:  Amelia Khan, violin (10) & Lily Smith, violin (10) and Jarred McCormick, violin (11) & Jacob Wilfong, viola (11)
Bass Quartet:  Lacey Harder (11), Will Skaggs (11), Abby Surlet (11), Maiya Varner (12)
There were MANY Outstanding-2 ratings received this year from the Orchestra, and several just barely missed the opportunity to perform at State.  We are excited about the students being able to read their feedback and learn from their performances from this year, to continue to develop as musicians, and look forward to performing again next year!
Similar to Solo & Ensemble, the orchestras have their large group performances THIS Thursday, March 8 at Lindbergh High School.  All four orchestra classes will be attending, so wish us luck!
