HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH: September 15 to October 15 marks Hispanic Heritage Month. It is important to take this time to recognize the contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans to the group's heritage and culture.
George Lopez is a comedian, actor and talk show host. He was the first Mexican American to have a sitcom on ABC, The George Lopez Show. Not only has he starred in many movies but he has had his own comedy specials, including The Beverly Hill Chihuahua series and The Smurfs. In addition to his television and comedy resume, he has done a great deal to give back to the community. An inspiring quote from him: “When things are bad, it's the best time to reinvent yourself.”
PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES will take place at PHS this evening, October 3 from 4:30pm to 8:00pm and tomorrow evening, October 4 from 4:30pm to 7:30pm. No appointments necessary.
ACTIVITY BUSES will only run at 4:15pm today and tomorrow, October 3 and October 4.
THE MATH HELP CENTER and AFTER-SCHOOL TUTORING IN THE LIBRARY will both be closed today and tomorrow (October 3 & 4) after school due to Parent-Teacher Conferences.

ONLY 2 DAYS LEFT TO PURCHASE HOMECOMING DANCE TICKETS. The last day tickets will be sold is tomorrow, October 4. Tickets are on sale in the Students Commons during all lunch sessions for $15.00 per ticket. In order to purchase a ticket, you must have your ID, all fines paid, and 90% attendance.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN TAKING THE PRELIMINARY SAT/NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP QUALIFYING TEST ON OCTOBER 10, bring $16--cash or check payable to PHS--to Mr. Handrahan in the counseling office by tomorrow, October 4. You will receive an informational booklet and practice exam when you sign up. There are 90 spots available--first come, first served sign ups. Also see Mr. Handrahan for information on fee waivers.

AFTER-SCHOOL SUPERVISION tomorrow, October 4 will be held in the Auditorium. Students staying after school for school-supervised activities tomorrow will report to the Auditorium at 1:14; the main gym will not be available.
