HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH:  September 15 to October 15 marks Hispanic Heritage Month.  It is important to take this time to recognize the contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans to the group's heritage and culture.
Born in a small town in the tropical region of northern Colombia in 1928, Gabriel Garcia Marquez is widely considered one of the most important authors of the 20th century.  He is most widely known for his novel, "One Hundred Years of Solitude".  It is considered Garcia Marquez' masterpiece and has subsequently been translated into 37 languages while selling more than 20 million copies.  He won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1982.  Shortly after his death in April 2014, Juan Manuel Santos, the President of Colombia, described him as "the greatest Colombian who ever lived”.

ORDER GRADUATION ITEMS in the Main Gym lobby during lunch today, October 10 and tomorrow, October 11.  Order packets are available in Mr. Thompson's office and the Activities Office.

THERE WILL BE A HOSA MEETING after school in F210 today, October 10.

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED to help clean up the route after the Homecoming parade this Saturday, October 13 at 11:00am.  Stop by the Community Service Office, E200, to sign up!

PETE'S CLOSET'S SPECIAL TODAY (October 10) is men's pants and jeans.  There's a selection on the table, come take a look.  The store is open from 6:45-7:15am and immediately after school until 2:30pm.

A MATH ACT REVIEW CLASS will be held this evening, October 10 from 6-8pm in room H215.

JUNIORS INTERESTED IN TAKING THE ACT, SAT OR ACT WORK KEYS FOR FREE, stop by and see Ms. Patrick in the Guidance Office.

GIRLS BASKETBALL has open gym tonight, October 10 at 6pm.

  • Apply to St. Louis Community College or St. Charles Community College for FREE during tomorrow's Homeroom (October 11).  Bring your social security number.
  • Seniors needing financial aid help or who are immigrant students, see Mrs. Luraschi to sign-up for help tomorrow.

CREATIVE WRITING CLUB will be meeting in room D106 from 2:30-3:20pm. tomorrow, October 11.

WATERWAY IS GIVING FREE EXPRESS CAR WASHES TO STUDENTS every Saturday and Sunday for the months of October and November.  Just show your student ID.

NORTH TECH is currently accepting applications for students that are interested in attending.  If you are a student that would like to begin focusing on a career direction, complete an application at or even come to the North Tech Open House on Thursday, October 25 from 4:30-7:00pm at 1700 Derhake Road in Florissant.  Talk to your guidance counselor if you have further questions.
