Important Dates for Seniors
Important Dates for Seniors
Thursday, April 16, 2020
Dear PHS senior families:
As we prepare to celebrate our 2020 seniors and their accomplishments, we want to make sure you are aware of important end-of-the-school year dates. The school board Tuesday night approved setting the last day of school for seniors as May 15. The last day for all other students is May 29. Although graduation is still scheduled for June 4 at the Family Arena, we have also secured an alternate date for graduation ceremonies on July 16 in case health officials still deem it unsafe to hold large public gatherings on the original date. If graduation needs to be rescheduled for July 16, then senior awards night would be held July 15. We will share more updates on event planning as soon as we are able.

Below is a list of our important dates for your convenience:
  • April 22 - Drive-through distribution of graduation announcements, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. under the bridge (refer to yesterday’s email for details and steps for safe delivery)
  • May 15 - Last day for seniors
  • May 29 - Last day for Grades 9-11
  • June 3 - Senior awards night, 7 p.m.
  • June 4 - Graduation at Family Arena, 7 p.m.
  • July 15 - Alternate date for senior awards night
  • July 16 - Alternate date for graduation

We will send out information later on cap and gown pickup, diploma distribution, recognition for community service hours (50 hour requirement waived for 2020 seniors) and possible rescheduling of prom as we have more information. All decisions will be contingent on recommendations and protocols set by health officials in order to keep our students, families and staff safe.

Graduation is an important milestone in the life of our children, and we are committed to doing everything possible to celebrate our seniors for their perseverance and accomplishments. None of us could have predicted a year like this, and yet we take pride in knowing our Pirates are resilient, courageous and intelligent individuals who have a bright future ahead. We look forward to celebrating them with you in the days to come. If you have any questions, please let us know.

Sincerely,
Joe Dobrinic, PHS Principal
