Pattonville's annual career fair had over 60 presenters available to speak to students on Nov. 3 regarding career selection, job skills, training and education requirements, and occupational journeys. The career fair was held in the main gym and multipurpose room during Homeroom.
Senior Hayley Buschmann spoke to a certified flight instructor from St. Louis Flight Training to learn about possible opportunities.
“I’ve always been really interested in planes but I didn’t know how to find out more,” she said.
A person has to be 17 years of age to receive their private pilot certificate and have at least 40 hours total flight time, pass an FAA written test and pass an oral and flight exam.
“Getting the chance to actually talk to somebody about it and see the costs of getting certified, I thought, ‘Wow, that’s pretty darn cheap,” she said. “I might actually take that.”
A career exploration table was a new addition this year and in B104, college application and FAFSA quick-question help was available with college and career preparation counselor Michelle Luraschi.
