iPad and Keyboard Case - Damage, Theft, Loss and Failure to Return Procedures

 

  1. Damage

    1. Generally, there is no cost for the repair and/or replacement of an accidentally damaged iPad or Keyboard Case. However, this is limited to two instances per school year for each individual student. This does not apply to intentional damage, or acts of negligent behavior.
    2. In the event an individual student exceeds two instances of accidental damage to an iPad or Keyboard Case, the cost of repairs will be charged to the student's parent or guardian.
    3. The repair or replacement cost of an iPad or Keyboard that resulted from intentional damage or negligent behavior will be charged to the student's parent or guardian in all cases. This includes defacement of the iPad or Keyboard Case with markers, stickers, or any other permanent alteration.
    4. There is no charge for accidental damage that takes place during school, while under supervision of district staff. In addition, accidental damage of this nature will not count toward the two instances permitted each year.
    5. After two instances of accidental damage, a parent or guardian may elect to keep the iPad and Keyboard Case at the school.
  2. Theft

    1. There is no cost to replace a stolen iPad and/or Keyboard Case. However, a police report or case number of the reported theft must be provided to the school. This is limited to one occurrence per year.
    2. The cost to replace a stolen iPad and/or Keyboard Case will be charged to the student for any theft after the first time each school year, or when theft is a result of an intentional act or negligent behavior on the part of the student.
  3. Loss

    1. A student’s parent or guardian is responsible for the cost to replace a lost iPad and/or Keyboard Case for any reason except theft (see above).
  4. Failure to Return

    1. If the iPad and/or Keyboard Case are not returned at the end of the school year, a student’s parent or guardian is responsible for the replacement cost of the item.
    2. If the iPad and/or Keyboard Case are not returned when a student transfers out of the district for any reason, a student’s parent or guardian is responsible for the replacement cost of the item.
  5. iPad Charger, Cable, and Digital Pencil

    1. Students are provided with one charger, one charging cable, and one digital
      pencil the first time they are assigned an iPad. This is the only charger, cable,
      and digital pencil provided by the school district, students will not be given a new
      charger or digital pencil each year.
    2. If the charger, cable, or digital pencil is damaged or lost, the student’s parent or
      guardian is responsible for the replacement cost of the item.
    3. Chargers, cables, and digital pencils will be sold by the school at a discounted
      price.
    4. Chargers, cables, and digital pencils may be purchased online or at local retail
      stores.
    5. The charger, cable, and digital pencil will not be returned to the school when the
      iPad and Keyboard Case are returned each year
  6. Repair/Replacement Estimates (Costs will be billed at actual rates)

    1. Keyboard Case replacement - $200.
    2. Level 1 - general iPad repair, up to $426.
    3. Level 2 - extensive damage and iPad repair, up to $567.
    4. Replacement cost of a lost or stolen iPad will be based on the current cost of a used iPad of the same model and specifications.
